Parenting comes with big moments—and even bigger emotions. Fear, grief, anxiety, frustration, and joy are all part of childhood, but knowing how to respond in the moment can feel overwhelming.
WQED imagines a world where parents, caregivers, and teachers feel confident and supported when children experience big emotions. Instead of scrambling for the right words or searching endlessly online, families can turn to a trusted, research‑backed resources from WQED and PBS for support—right when they need it most.
The Learning Locker is part of WQED’s vision for a new kind of learning experience: one that is on‑demand, personalized, and deeply attuned to children’s emotional and developmental needs. By combining beloved PBS KIDS content like Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Sesame Street, and Carl the Collector with locally produced programs and expert‑informed tools, we provide meaningful resources that help children understand, name, and navigate their big feelings.
Every story, activity, and guide is developed alongside educators, researchers, and community partners to ensure children don’t just receive information—but the right support, at the right moment, in the right way. Our goal is to make high‑quality, social‑emotional learning accessible to all families through free, public media.
Together, we’re building a responsive, inclusive learning model that empowers adults and helps children grow with confidence, empathy, and resilience.
